Links to Book, Film, and Other Recommendations
About the only thing I read nowadays are books on American history. Here are some of my favorite reads, and also a few history- or nature-related films that I found interesting:
Patriots: The Men Who Started the American Revolution
April 1865: The Month that Saved America
Midnight Rising: John Brown and the Raid that Sparked the Civil War
Dark Horse: The Surprise Election and Political Murder of President James A Garfield
What the Heck Are You Up To, Mr. President?

Links to Photographers and Artists I’ve Used on This Blog
I didn’t own a camera for many of my earlier park trips. I’ve had to beg and borrow photos from all over the ‘net (always with permission, of course, unless they’re public domain). Here is a list of photographers and artists whose work has been featured on this site:
Fine Art Photography by Scott Speck
Roger Hall Scientific Illustrations & Wildlife Art

Links to Brewpubs I’ve Perused
OK, OK, I’m a beer snob. And proud of it. Everywhere I go, I’ll always try to visit nearby brew pubs. Here’s a list of those near some of the sites I’ve blogged so far:
Brewer’s Alley, Frederick, Maryland
Firehouse Brewing Company, Rapid City, South Dakota
Lompoc Cafe and Brewpub, Bar Harbor, Maine
Rock Bottom Brewery (a national chain, but a thumpin’ good one)
Rubicon Brewing Company, Sacramento, California
Lake Placid Pub & Brewery, Lake Placid, New York
Appalachian Brewing Company, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
You’ve gotta check out Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue, Long Island, NY. Best in the East, in my humble opinion, with Dog Fish Head a close second. Then come visit me in Portland, Oregon, aka “Beervana”.
LOL! You got a deal!
