According to promos, National Public Radio’s Morning Edition is going to be running a series of stories on America’s National Parks this week.
This NPR junkie will definitely be tuning in.
Listened to NPR this morning, and said to self, “Hey, gotta tell Paul, I wonder how many of the nearly 400 he’s been to…” Mr. KIA Brooks advised me to go to your blog and check. Haven’t found it yet, but I’m keen to guess.
That would be 131, according to my latest count. 🙂
That “nearly 400” number keeps tripping me up. My list, dumped from the NPS website, lists 460, but that list includes “national heritage corridors”, which are groupings of non-NPS sites for recognition, but aren’t really NPS sites. There are other funky things on that list that actually counts things twice.
I think there are 397 official national park sites, but I doubt even our beloved government knows exactly how many.
